SYNOPSIS

this is the

In the heart of a powerful kingdom governed by a metaphysical tree that controls its people, Adam and Kael arrive to perform a sacred ritual — a symbolic act to preserve order. But the ceremony is interrupted by two figures long believed gone: Luca, the disgraced former general, and Lily, Adam’s lost love.

Both now rebels, they plan to infect the tree’s “fruit” with a source code that could end the monarchy’s mind-control — and plunge the kingdom into chaos.

As old betrayals surface and hidden truths are revealed, Adam is forced into a whirlwind of loyalty, love, and impossible choices. While Kael and Luca’s brutal sibling rivalry reignites, Adam and Lily share a haunting dance — their memories twisted by years of manipulation.

But when tensions erupt and a fatal shot is fired, everything collapses.

Now, with blood spilled and history repeating, only one decision remains: destroy the system that binds them all, or protect the lie that holds it together.

STYLE

A psychological-political thriller baked into a metaphysical shell, and it's all wrapped in an operatic sibling-love-war-collapse arc

AIM

“Tarantino meets Alex Garland meets Futurist myth.”

“a juicy visual combo — lush mythic decay (Green Knight), techno-future noir (Blade Runner), and that bold, character-first punch of Pulp Fiction.”

From a young age, fantasy gave me a way to imagine life beyond the struggles of growing up lower-middle class and South Asian. As an only child in a fractured household, I found my escape in fairy tales, books, the radio—and later, a tiny television. We couldn’t afford extracurriculars or video games, so I turned to my imagination. In the quiet, I began crafting stories—placing myself in the worlds I read and watched, giving myself purpose, strength, and love. Fantasy became my lifeline.

That’s why I want my first film to be a fantasy—one that speaks to the inner child in all of us. A film that invites people to reimagine our bleak reality with a spark of wonder, a glimmer of hope. Just a moment of escape—to keep us moving forward.

As a South Asian in my country, I rarely saw myself represented in the media. The heroes on screen were always white or Chinese. Brown characters were invisible, or reduced to stereotypes. It made me question: Do I belong? Is it cool to be me? Even today, while representation is improving, many roles still demand that we perform our ethnicity, rather than simply exist within a story. I look to actors like Dev Patel in The Green Knight—a brown man playing a knight, not a “South Asian” knight. That’s the kind of visibility I long for—and what I want to create.

My creative influences are deeply rooted in both Tamil cinema and Japanese anime. Tamil films have a unique cinematic language—especially the concept of “Mass”: an exhilarating blend of shot, music, and performance that can send goosebumps through an audience. If done well, it elevates characters to mythic status. It’s a nuanced, stylized craft, I believe has the power to enrich Western cinema, just as Hong Kong films once redefined noir and action.

From anime, I’ve learned the power of emotional worldbuilding—the beauty in the mundane, the strength of the journey over the destination, the boldness to create the absurd and make it feel human. Anime doesn’t shy away from imagination; it justifies it. While live action has its limitations, I believe we can translate elements of that spirit through strong design, shot choices, and emotionally grounded storytelling.

Tavuta is the pilot project where I bring all these influences together—a tribute to the global craft of fantasy storytelling. It’s a personal vision, but also a cultural offering. I hope it inspires the child in you to dream again.
